This is a brand new development board based on Espressif ESP32-S3 SoC, which is equipped with Xtensa® 32-bit LX7 single-core processor, operating frequency up to 240 MHz, supports secondary development without using other microcontrollers or processors.

The ESP32-S3 is a low-power MCU-based system-on-chip (SoC) that supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® Low Energy (Bluetooth LE). It consists of a high-performance dual-core microprocessor (Xtensa® 32-bit LX7), a low power coprocessor, a Wi-Fi baseband, a Bluetooth LE baseband, RF module, and peripherals, designed for various applications such as the internet of things (IoT), mobile devices, wearable electronics, smart home, etc.

    Just received this board and am really impressed so far. It took very little effort to successfully run a C++ sketch using Arduino IDE and a micropython program using the Thonny IDE. I could easily switch back and forth as follows:

    To flash with the micropython interpreter I followed the command line install of the latest stable .bin file as described here:
    (I found I could not use Thonny to install the .bin )

    To compile and upload the C++ files I had to refresh the ESP32 boards in the Arduino IDE and selected “ESP32S3 Dev module”. I successfully ran a custom blink (LED-RED = IO5, LED-GREEN=IO6, LED-BLUE=IO7), also wifi scan worked immediately.)

    Most significant to me are the many GPIO pins on this board, Im guessing this will be an excellent micropython platform as it’s fast ands has lots of memory.
