Description

A LED Strip WS2812B with 8 fully addressable LED in 5050 SMD package (5×5 mm), fully controllable by a single wire serial connection from any microcontroller.

This module is compatible with Adafruit Industries’ “NeoPixel” Arduino library.

The modules have mounting holes and can be cascaded to build bigger arrangements.

Every LED contains its own 18mA constant-current driver, and an addressable driver chip, and will work without any current limiting resistors on a power supply of 4-7V.

Since the data protocol is quite timing-specific, you will need a faster microcontroller (at least 8MHz) to control it. You can use it for example with an AVR and Arduino, PIC, STM32 or similar controller. You will have no luck with “interpreted” controllers like Basic Stamp or Picaxe.

I have purchased a number of these with great satisfaction!

I bought six of these, and my order arrived in no time flat (as usual). All work well except for one LED on one strip. It functions, but doesn’t pass the input data to its output pin. It caused two of my strips to fail. Fortunately it was at the end of the strip, so I was able to swap it for my trailing strip and get all LEDs working. I’m not sure that LED displays the right colour, but it could also be a bug in my code so I’m not worried about it.

I don’t need a replacement; this part of my project is working fine.

It might be a bad solder joint. I recommend you take out your solder pen, put the pencil tip on it, and resolder the 4 pads on the last working LED and on the the 1st not working one.
